Prohibited items

1. Overview

klik's parcel delivery service is designed to be safe, reliable, and responsible for everyone: senders, recipients, delivery agents, and the communities we operate in. To protect all parties, certain items are strictly prohibited from being sent through our platform.

By placing a delivery order, you confirm that the contents of your parcel comply with this prohibited items policy. Violations may result in order cancellation, account suspension, and referral to the relevant authorities.

2. Hazardous and dangerous materials

The following hazardous materials are strictly prohibited:

• Flammable substances: petrol, diesel, lighter fluid, paint thinner, acetone, and similar combustibles.
• Explosive materials: fireworks, gunpowder, flares, detonators, and any pyrotechnic devices.
• Compressed gases: aerosols under pressure, gas canisters, or pressurized cylinders.
• Corrosive chemicals: acids, alkalis, bleach concentrates, and industrial cleaning agents.
• Toxic or poisonous substances: pesticides, herbicides, industrial chemicals, and laboratory reagents.
• Radioactive materials: of any kind, regardless of quantity or shielding.

3. Weapons and related items

All weapons and related accessories are prohibited, including:

• Firearms and ammunition: guns, rifles, pistols, shotguns, bullets, cartridges, and magazines.
• Bladed weapons: combat knives, swords, machetes, and similar items. Kitchen utensils and tools sent in a properly sealed package may be permissible.
• Stun guns, tasers, and electroshock devices.
• Replica weapons that resemble real firearms.
• Weapon components: stocks, barrels, silencers, or other parts intended to assemble a functional weapon.

Note: klik does not facilitate the transport of items whose primary purpose is to cause harm.

4. Illegal and controlled items

Sending any item that is illegal under Ethiopian law or any applicable jurisdiction is strictly forbidden:

• Narcotics and illegal drugs: cannabis, cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine, khat (outside permitted contexts), and all other controlled substances.
• Counterfeit currency, forged documents, or fake identification.
• Pirated media: bootleg DVDs, copied software, counterfeit branded goods.
• Stolen property of any kind.
• Items subject to trade sanctions, embargoes, or export controls.

klik cooperates fully with law enforcement. Any suspicious shipment may be reported to the appropriate authorities.

5. Valuables and high-risk items

The following high-value items are excluded from our standard delivery service due to the risk of loss, damage, or theft:

• Cash, banknotes, coins, and negotiable instruments (cheques, money orders).
• Precious metals and gemstones: gold, silver, diamonds, platinum, and similar valuables.
• Jewelry (fine jewelry above a nominal declared value).
• Collectibles and antiques with high monetary or sentimental value.
• Bearer bonds, share certificates, and other financial instruments.

klik's standard liability cover does not extend to such items. If you need to send valuables, contact us to discuss specialized arrangements.

6. Live animals and plants

klik does not transport live animals or plants:

• All living animals: pets, livestock, birds, reptiles, insects, and aquatic life.
• Plants, seeds, or soil that may be subject to agricultural regulations or phytosanitary restrictions.
• Animal products that require special veterinary certification or quarantine.

This restriction is in place to protect animal welfare, comply with Ethiopian biosecurity regulations, and ensure the safety of our delivery agents.

7. Perishables and temperature-sensitive items

Items that cannot withstand ambient temperature conditions during transit are generally prohibited or require prior arrangement:

• Perishable foods that need refrigeration or freezing (such as raw meat, fish, dairy, ice cream).
• Biological samples, specimens, or cultures requiring controlled storage.
• Pharmaceuticals requiring cold-chain handling (such as insulin, vaccines).
• Dry ice or other temperature regulants that emit gas in confined spaces.

For time-sensitive or temperature-controlled deliveries, contact klik support in advance to assess feasibility.

8. Human remains and body parts

klik does not facilitate the transport of:

• Human remains, ashes, or body parts of any kind.
• Biological specimens of human origin.

For the transport of cremated remains or related matters, engage a licensed mortuary or funeral service.

9. Pornographic and obscene material

The shipment of obscene, pornographic, or morally offensive material is strictly prohibited under Ethiopian law and klik's community standards. This includes printed material, digital storage media, or any other format containing such content.

10. Oversized and overweight items

Items exceeding the limits of the selected package size are not permitted:

• Size S: up to 2 kg
• Size M: up to 6 kg
• Size L: up to 10 kg

Attempting to send a parcel that exceeds the declared size or weight may result in order cancellation without refund. If you are unsure, use the in-app package size guide or contact our support team before placing an order.

11. Sender responsibilities

As the sender, you are solely responsible for:

• Ensuring your parcel complies with this prohibited items policy.
• Accurately declaring the item type, weight, and size at the time of booking.
• Packaging items securely to prevent damage to the contents or to our delivery agents and vehicles.
• Complying with all applicable Ethiopian and international laws governing the items you ship.

klik reserves the right to refuse, hold, or return any parcel that is suspected of containing prohibited items. In cases involving illegal content, klik will notify the relevant authorities.

12. Enforcement and consequences

Violation of this policy may result in:

• Immediate cancellation of the delivery order without refund.
• Temporary suspension or permanent deactivation of your klik account.
• Confiscation of the parcel pending investigation.
• Referral to Ethiopian law enforcement or regulatory bodies.

klik is not liable for any loss, damage, or legal consequence arising from a sender's failure to comply with this policy.
